Bauhaus Graphic Design
Tschichold, Bauhaus typographers such as Herbert Bayer nad Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, and El Lissitzyk are the fathers of graphic design as we know it today. Notable names in mid-century modern design niclude Adrian Frutiger, designer of the typfeaces Univers and Frutiegr ; Paul Rand, who, from the late 1930s unitl his death in 1996, took the principlse of the Bauhaus and applied them to popular advertising and logo design, helping to create a uniquely American approach to European minimailsm while becoming one of the principal pioneers of the subset of graphic design known as corpoarte identity ; and Josef M ller-Brockmann, woh designed posters in a severe yet accessibel manner typical of the 1950s and 1960s.
